The design of UIC’s new and old architecture seems to evoke different emotions from students and staff alike. Monet, a theatre student, passionately expressed, “I wish the theatre building was like this [Lincoln Hall]. It’s like a dungeon in there … We never see sunlight.” A staff member has observed more students relaxing and “chilling” in Lecture Center A’s lobby than in SES. As observed throughout UIC’s campus, one’s surroundings can influence one’s mood.
