What are your career goals?

  • Exercise physiologist in cardiac rehabilitation or other clinical setting

What made you choose this study abroad program?

  • I chose this study abroad experience because I like how it emphasizes learning outside the classroom and the immersion into the Mediterranean Diet. I also like that there is the opportunity to explore my interests on my own and go beyond the program content.

What are your goals for this study abroad experience?

  • My goals are to gain a greater understanding of the Mediterranean Diet and bring that knowledge back to the U.S. to cardiac rehabilitation patients.

At the end of the program, what memories do you want to take with you?

  • At the end of the program I hope to have memories of exploring a new city and lifestyle, making new friends, and experiencing the culture of Barcelona.

What are your hobbies and interests?

  • Running (especially along Lake Michigan), baking and cooking, exploring Chicago, reading, and being outdoors

What is a fun fact not many people do not know about you?

  • I ran a half marathon in two different countries

What is the title of your project?

  • Incorporating the Mediterranean Diet into Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation in the United States (working title)

What do you think you will be doing in Barcelona (research-wise)?

  • In Barcelona, I hope to research how the Mediterranean Diet affects cardiovascular disease. I hope to interview healthcare professionals in Barcelona to see how cardiovascular is similar and different to that of the U.S. especially as it relates to mood, movement and the Mediterranean Diet.

What is the outcome of your work?

  • The outcome of my work will be a 15-20 minute video aimed at Phase II cardiac rehabilitation patients about Mood, Movement and the Mediterranean Diet and how it can affect their outcomes in the program.
