Public Health major
My career goals after graduation are to apply for the Peace Corps. Eventually, I would like to go back to school to get a Master’s degree in community health sciences.
What made you choose this study abroad course?
I chose this study abroad course because many aspects of it relate to my major and focus area. Not only am I excited to learn about a new culture, but I think it will be interesting to see how societal and environmental factors impact their way of life and health status. I also appreciate that this program allows me to explore my interests that are unrelated to the coursework, but provide a valuable learning experience.
What are your goals for your study abroad experience?
My goal for this study abroad experience is to appreciate a culture that is different from my own. Growing up on the south side of Chicago, our community is very close, so I have never really branched out and left my comfort zone. I hope this experience gives me the opportunity to learn from the culture and be more open minded.
At the end of the program, what memory do you want to take with you?
At the end of this experience, I want to take the memories of all the amazing places we are about to see. I want to remember the beauty of the landscapes, architecture, and culture. I also want to take with me and continue the new friendships I am going to build.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Some of my hobbies are sewing, painting, working out or playing sports, and being outdoors in the summer. However, every once in a while I do enjoy a lazy day curled up on the couch with a good Netflix show.
What is a fun fact not many people know about you?
One fun fact people may not know about me is my full name has 23 letters in it.
